Our most recent guidance, following discussion between NHS England and the Allied Health Professions ( which includes Osteopathy) is that we can phase back into face to face consultations in clinic. We are still being advised to offer remote consultation as the first approach because of the continued risk of infection and to use this method initially with new clients to take a case history / undertake subjective observations in order to minimise time in clinic.
We are currently unable to see anyone in the ‘High Risk’ group for face to face consultation. All other patients will need a pre screening call to determine risk before being offered a clinic appointment. We realise that many of you who are not eligible for face to face treatment at this time, may continue to get musculoskeletal aches, pains and injuries or develop them in response to changing daily routines and a different home based work environment. Those of you who are pregnant or have small babies to care for may still need help and advice which we are professionally trained to give you. Many people are experiencing increased stress and anxiety in relation to the current situation and finding it difficult to relax or to get a good night’s sleep. Those of you with long term respiratory problems may benefit from some basic exercises to enhance your breathing and lung function.

APPOINTMENTS
There will be 3 types of appointment available:
1. Free triage appointment.
This will allow us to work out with you what type of appointment would best suit you at this time. Once we have listened to your needs we can suggest either a 15 minute telephone consultation or a video consultation (for details of both see below).
2. A 15 Minute Telephone Consultation costing £15.
This will suit those patients who we already know and are either in the middle of a series treatments or come for regular maintenance treatment. As we already know you we can monitor your progress, give advice, simple exercises as required and answer any questions you may have.
3. Video consultation costing £30 for 30 mins or £45 for 45 mins.
This will most likely be via Zoom or Google Meet
This is a new means of communication for us and we are still trialing different platforms to see which works best. We can give you advice on how to set this up at home.
The 30 minute session will be aimed at current patients who need more than a phone call or used for follow up appointments for new clients
The 45 minute session will be aimed at new clients or existing clients with a complex new problem. During your online consultation we will
- Take a full case history and offer a differential diagnosis
- Cover any health updates for existing clients
- Check your alignment and ranges of movement
- Make a diagnosis or continue the investigation in clinic, as appropriate
- Give advice on self help measures and pain relief as indicated
- Demonstrate and advise appropriate exercises
- Make lifestyle recommendations to support your posture, diet, sleep etc
- Support you with advice on stress release, breathing, relaxation and ways to boost your immune system
The advantage of a video consultation is that we can actually see you and go through exercises and self treatment together so that you get immediate benefits. The cost of each session also includes a short 5 minute follow up call 3 days later to check on your progress
